Sims and Baroque Opera

Well…Nikkei_Simmer has gone certifiably around the bend. This is what happens when you listen to baroque opera and get weird Sims ideas.

Credete al mio Dolore from Georg Frideric Handel's opera Alcina

River McIrish (soprano) as Morgana

If River was a "vocal major" instead of a painter at university.

The two arias are one for bassvoice "Un Momento di Contento" (Sim Haruo is a tenor ~evil smirk~) - and the other is for soprano - "Credete al mio dolore" (both from GF Handel's Alcina). I think River would be more an alto judging from her speaking voice but I have heard sopranos who have rich warm alto speaking voices in my experience…so I'm making her a soprano.

~singing at the square in the middle of town in Monte Vista.

Didn't feel like making a whole classical music "concert hall" for my Sims. I'm not up to doing that right now with the constant coughing, it's sapping my energy levels. So I decided to do my whole modern-take "baroque opera" screenshots in Monte Vista.

Haruo (as Oronte) , a tenor, joins in with...his own aria... "Un Momento di Contento". These two arias with their accompanying recitatives are performed one after the other in the actual opera (Morgana sings Credete while Oronte sings Un Momento as the two characters are lovers). It fits as Haruo and River are lovers in my Sims stories so naturally if they went into the music studies in University...they'd both perform together.

I was actually a baritone (I could only dream about singing tenor - Tenors always got the best baroque arias). I was stuck singing Melisso's aria. Yeah, I'm a bit bitter about that.

...upbraiding Bradamante who's a lovelorn woman disguising herself as Ricciardo, her brother, to track down Ruggiero, the one she loves who is happily infatuated with Alcina, a witch and Morgana, her sister, who have a nasty habit of entrapping fools who venture onto their island in search of treasure (I think it was) - Alcina is a fascinating tale of cross-dressing and mistaken identities.

And the usual reaction by anyone who hears two people break into song in the middle of a crowded square. We tend to call those kinds of things flash mobs.

Poor Bebe…she thought that she was coming to Italy for a vacation. Not to hear an impromptu baroque opera concert.

If that wasn't enough, Haruo spent the next day singing to a tree...

I remember my vocal teacher telling me when she told me to learn Verdi Prati from Alcina as a vocal student. "Sing as if you are singing to a tree..." OK... Mrs. Huang-Suzuki. This is an "inside joke" from my college days.

And just in case you haven't realized just how cracked of an egg I am...here's a werewolf singing the first stanza of "Where'er You Walk" from Georg Frideric Handel's opera "Semele"

from the days of Covid Quarantine...kinda sent me around the bend. Thank goodness I was an introvert.

Thank you, Jim Steinman (Rest in Peace) - for this earworm...

...that's been doing laps in my head for the past three days...Now I plan to annoy everyone else with it. You're welcome!!!

I finished crying in the instant that you left
And I can't remember where or when or how
And I banished every memory you and I had ever made...
But you were history with the slamming of the door
And I made myself so strong again somehow...
...and I never wasted any of my time on you since then...
But if I touch you like this...
...and if you kiss me like that...
It was so long ago, but it's all coming back to me
If you touch me like this
And if I kiss you like that
It was gone with the wind, but it's all coming back to me
(It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now)

My Muse is not happy with me.

Nope...she's not happy at all...12 pages into the fourth chapter of my Legacy, she has just gone on strike. So...I guess I have to either administer corporal punishment or just let her figure it out until she's ready to cooperate.

The Updated Chikamori Family Tree in LibreOffice Draw

Insofar as the Legacy Family Tree, I decided that I was going to turn around and make the family tree in LibreOffice Draw since it had the necessary tools for me to be able to make distinctions between family members with arrows leading to who was related to who.

Although as I'm going along with this Legacy, I'm going to have to make adjustments for family members coming into the family and this tree is going to grow on both sides of the family immensely. I've likened it to a bramble bush, since at some point, Yasunobu is going to get divorced from Mayumi...and he's going to remarry.

I'm enjoying making this since LibreOffice, unlike GIMP is user-friendly and I appear to have a handle on the program. GIMP on the other hand is like a mentally-disabled ADHD trying to write a scientific paper on Astrophysics. That's how hard it is to get a handle on.

Monkeying around with GIMP

GIMP is a great little program, but coming from Adobe...it's a fucking pain-in-the-ass. I hate that it's not intuitive like Adobe Photoshop Elements...it's also laborious to work one's way around in order to get the output that you want. Can't afford to re-up Photoshop again at this point so I have to work with what I have...and who knows maybe I might get better at this.

Maybe I'll be able to get back to actual photography sooner than later.

I Hate Family Tree Software

Trying to make a Sims family tree seems to be the most complicated and irritating thing possible to do in a Legacy. The Plumtree App continues to drive me insane because it doesn't separate both Founders so that you can individually put their parents in. Only one seems to get the ability to put their parents in while the other is orphaned. I wish it was possible to separate nodes for founders at least so you could put their family members (in short: parents) in. The only way to do this is by making a family tree yourself.

Trying to make one while working with software I don't understand is a task that makes me want to hurl this keyboard through the nearest window.

The Mares are Absolutely Correct...

I'm intrigued by this mod, however, I have yet to purchase Dragon Valley, as I had been holding out for the Dragon Valley Gold Edition, since it comes with the bonus "Black Dragon".

And just for your information Lost Pantheon. I am distressed that your mod didn't come with the ability to turn an entire town into a baked charnel house.

insert ~evil cackle~

In other posts, the Mares have always made me laugh with such intricate and cunning wordplay; an absolute delight.

This gem had me in stitches for darned near close to an hour. Well-played, Mares. Love it. "Unwanted bangings"...🤣
